Ann Ayinde is the Career Coach, International Students within Western University's Careers & Experience Department. In this role, she provides nuanced career support to Western’s growing number of international students, including 1-1 appointments, tailored workshops, group coaching sessions and other programming, in collaboration with campus partners. Ann has a juicy mix of Career Coaching and HR experience in the financial services, consulting, oil & gas, non-profit and health sectors. An Accounting major and an MBA Graduate from the University of Plymouth (UK), Ann understands the pain points of international students as well as international professionals trying to break barriers within Canada. As a certified career strategist, Ann sees career development as a lifelong process of purposefully learning and growing and believes that every individual has the capacity to positively influence the lives of those in their world. When Ann isn't coaching students, she can be found spending time with family and photographing nature at its finest. 


Workshop: Basics of Coding & Machine Learning

Miriam Hewlett is a PhD candidate in Medical Biophysics at Western University. Her research investigates improved motion correction methods for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). This includes training deep learning networks to remove motion artifacts in these medical images. She’s also currently implementing navigators to measure motion real-time using the MRI scanner itself and plans to use this information for prospective (real-time) motion correction. Outside of research, Miriam enjoys being active. In the past year, has started learning rock climbing and hopes to try it outdoors in the future.


Workshop: ABSTRACT WRITING

Doug Campbell is a Graduate Programmer and Senior Writing Advisor, Writing Support Centre. He enjoys meeting one-to-one with students to help them better communicate their research and ideas. His academic research focuses on socio-cultural anthropology specializing in visual ethnography which has taken him from the South Pacific to South Africa to conduct documentary film projects. Now, he applies those sensibilities by bringing visual learning practices to his writing seminars. A fun fact about Doug is that he lives in a solar-powered off-grid home he built himself.

Cam Malthaner is the Career Coach, Undergraduate Students within Western University's Careers & Experience Department. Cam's background is in teaching and coaching, and he applies that mindset when delivering workshops or assisting students. His main advice to students is to step back, do some self-reflection, and breathe as life isn't a race, so finding your direction shouldn’t feel like one either. Graduating from Western with majors in Genetics and Classical Studies, Cam is living proof that degrees don't have to be specific, or even make sense, to lead to a meaningful life or career. Cam likes reading, working out, and video games in his spare time.

Dr. Alexandra Levine is a cognitive neuroscientist whose research focuses on investigating brain plasticity. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Nottingham. Dr. Levine then completed her MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of York (UK) followed by a PhD under the same supervisor at the University of York. She is now a post-doctorate fellow at Western University and the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion coordinator at the Faculty of Health Science. A fun fact about Dr. Levine is that during grad school, she worked at a brewer! She also collects beer coasters from all over the world.


Workshop: Entrepreneurship in STEM

Deniz Edwards is a biomedical engineer who has developed a career in supporting entrepreneurs. As an experienced entrepreneur having run a medical device start-up, she understands the challenges of entrepreneurship especially in the STEM field. Through the Morrissette Institute for Entrepreneurship, Deniz assists students, alumni, staff, and faculty in the Western community navigate their entrepreneurial journey. A fun fact about Deniz is Deniz is an avid board gamer and has a collection of over 35 board games!
